Service Description

Starting October 14th, 2025. Life these days is pretty hard to manage. Our worries and fears are legitimate. But how do we learn to live in reality without being overwhelmed by it? This four week course will teach you skills to do just that. Week 1: Learn to be present in the world at Folly Beach. Week 2: Engage with your emotions through sculpture at Terrace Clay Studio. Week 3: Ground and regulate your body at The Battery. Week 4: Deal with interpersonal conflict through Improv at Wit's End. Please assure you are available for all dates before playing the non-refundable deposit: 1. October 14- Intro and Mindfulness // Folly Beach 2. October 21- Emotional Regulation // Terrace Clay Studio 3. October 28- Distress Tolerance // The Battery 4. November 4- Interpersonal Effectiveness // Wit's End Comedy Lounge The Nitty Gritty: DBT is best practice treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, Depression, and Anxiety but is also excellent for anyone who ever feels controlled by their emotions. I worked for two years as an Outpatient Therapist performing DBT groups, moved into the role of Inpatient Clinical Manager coaching counselors on how to best perform DBT Groups for a year, and spent the previous three years working as a one-on-one therapist teaching these very same skills. One thing that I always found somewhat of an anomaly was how ironic it is to sit in a circle or behind a screen discussing how to handle life's stressors and regulate our emotions. I had a dream of creating a group that allows people to actively engage in using those skills in the world. This course is the direct product of that dream. I am so excited to be able to offer a course that both teaches new skills and exposes you to activities that you can continue to do far beyond this course to continue this work. I have partnered with two excellent co-facilitators, Christina Victor of Sabia Ceramics and Maari Suorsa of Rip City, who have years of experience in the fields of pottery and improv respectively. They are excited to use their expertise to help others handle life on life's terms. Please note that at this time this group is not able to be conducted in a way that is ADA compliant. Please fill out the contact form if you have an interest in any future groups of this kind but require ADA accommodations.
